how to kill a punch line

from today's NY times comes a correction:

An article last Sunday about new DVD box sets of James Bond movies misstated a line from “Goldfinger.” It is “No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die,” not “No, Mr. Bond, I’m trying to kill you.”

somebody at the NYT has a tin ear.
